Supposedly, women have remarkable noses, and can smell the genetic makeup of men. According to a new study though, birth control can throw off a woman’s sense of smell when it comes to sniffing out men who are good genetic matches.
Studies have shown that women are attracted to genetically different mates. Birth control pills seem to affect this attraction, however. The study, which involved women smelling t-shirts, revealed that women taking birth control pills were attracted men genetically similar to themselves, whereas before taking the pill, they preferred genetically different men.
If this is true, then one could assume that starting or stopping the pill after marrying someone could have dangerous results for the relationship.
