More American Women Getting Birth Control

A new national survey reveals that more women in the U.S. are receiving contraceptive services. The study, published in the American Journal of Public Health, reports that the percentage of American women who received contraceptive services increased from 36 percent in 1995 to 41 percent in 2002. Seventy five percent of the women polled in this study said they received services from private health care providers, while a quarter of the women received services from public health clinics. So many women receiving contraceptive services from private health care providers suggests that more and more private health care providers are starting to focus on women’s contraceptive needs, an area that has been the consistant focus of public clinics for years.
