Before taking Renova tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing skin disorders or if you have allergies. Renova increases your sensitivity to the sun, so limit sun exposure and avoid sun lamps. Use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Renova should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if Renova is excreted into breast milk so consult with your doctor before breast-feeding
Tell your doctor about any nonprescription or prescription medication you take including isotretinoin, amiodarone, tetracyclines or quinolone antibiotics, sulfa drugs or phenothiazines, as they increase skin sensitivity to the sun. Also minoxidil and any skin medication, soaps, cleansers, cosmetics, astringents or facial products that may be drying or irritating (e.g. alcohol-containing facial products). Benzoyl peroxide should not be applied at the same time as Renova. Do not start or stop any medicine or prescription skin treatment without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Renova Cream is the first prescription skin treatment cream proven to reduce signs of damage associated with chronic sun exposure and the aging process, such as fine wrinkles. Renova's active ingredient is tretinoin, a natural form of vitamin A that helps replace old, damaged skin with new healthier skin. It helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
When using Renova, you should begin to notice your skin becoming smoother and softer within the first month or two. In three to four months, you may notice a reduction in fine facial wrinkles. More benefits should be apparent within five to six months of starting skin treatment therapy with Renova. You may also notice brown spots have faded. Renova cream is a light, water-based cream that blends smoothly into the skin without a greasy appearance.
If using Renova as a wrinkle treatment, apply it to the face as directed, usually once a day at bedtime. Clean and dry your face. Apply a pea-size amount of Renova skin treatment cream using just enough to cover your entire face lightly. Be careful to avoid eyes, nostrils and mouth. Wash your hands after use. Do not use Renova more often than prescribed or in large amounts. It will not give you faster or better results but will increase the risk of side effects. Do not use Renova on sunburn, eczema or other serious skin conditions. Effects of Renova will be gradual with most improvements seen in the first 6 months of continued therapy. If Renova is being used as an acne skin treatment, the condition may worsen at first, then improve.
You may experience mild redness or stinging, itching, burning, skin scaling, peeling and dry skin the first several weeks as your body adjusts to Renova. If any of these effects continue or become severe, discontinue use of Renova and notify your doctor. Report any of the following serious side effects: blisters, crusting or swelling of skin, darkening or lightening of skin color. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
